Wintry Mix of Heavy Snow, Sleet and Freezing Rain Expected Thursday

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a winter storm warning for Montgomery County and surrounding areas to the north and west. The warning is in effect from Thursday morning at 3 a.m. through Friday morning at 6 a.m.

The service says people should expect a wintry mix of heavy snow, sleet and freezing rain, with up to eight inches of snow and up to 0.1 inches of ice accumulation. That means hazardous, slippery roads for Thursday’s evening commute.

Snow will begin to fall between 3 and 5 a.m. Thursday morning, with heavy snow to continue through the middle of the day Thursday. Sleet and freezing rain is predicted Thursday afternoon and Thursday night.

The NWS expects travel to be hazardous during the storm. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities.
