Who’s Introducing Who at the GBF
Several local officials will be introducing some of the presenting authors and panel discussions at the Gaithersburg Book Festival (GBF) on May 18 on the grounds of City Hall.
GBF Founder Jud Ashman said he is not doing introductions this year as he just wants to enjoy the festival.
Here’s a quick preview of some of the public officials doing introductions:
Gaithersburg Planning Commission Chair John Bauer will introduce “A Conversation with Ben Percy” at 12:15 p.m.
Gaithersburg Elementary School Principal Stephanie Brant will introduce “Fiction with Jane Green” at 1:15 p.m.
Gaithersburg Economic Development Director Tom Lonergan will introduce the “I Want My MTV Panel” at 2:15 p.m.
Montgomery County Councilmember Hans Riemer is introducing “Hands Around the Library” at 10 a.m.
Gaithersburg Park & Recreation & Culture Director Michele Potter is introducing “Triumph Over Adversity” at 1:15 p.m.
Montgomery County Councilmember Nancy Floreen is introducing author Neil Irvwin’s “The Alchemists” at 3:15 p.m.
Gaithersburg Planning Commissioner Matt Hopkins is introducing the panel “Romance andd Suspense” at 10:15 a.m. and then he’s introducing Author Kitty Kelley “Capturing Camelot” at 1:15 p.m.
Gaithersburg Planning Director John Schlichting is introducing a panel discussion at 10:35 a.m. entitled “National Insecurity.”
Gaithersburg City Council member Mike Sesma is introducing “Cooking with Pati Jinich at 4:15 p.m.
Gaithersburg City Council member Ryan Spiegel has two introductions: “Mac Barnett with Jon Scieszka” at 12:15 p.m. and a “Conversation with Jon Methven” at 2:15 p.m.
Mayor Sidney Katz is also making two introductions: “The Life of Sargent Shriver” at 3:15 p.m. and “The Life of William Rehnquist” at 4:15 p.m.
Montgomery County Executive & First Lady, Ike and Catherine Leggett, are introducing “An Hour with Legendary Children’s Author Walter Dean Myers” at 4:15 p.m.
Montgomery County Councilmember George Leventhal is introducing “Entering World War II with Lynn Olson” at 12:15 p.m.
Gaithersburg Planning Commissioner Danny Winborne is introducing two presentations: “The Little Things That Matter in the Big Game” at 10 a.m. and “Meet Chris Meyers” at 2:15 p.m.
There are some other officials (Gaithersburg Council member Cathy Drzyzgula and former Gaithersburg Planning Commissioner Lenny Levy) moderating some panels at the event too. You can find a complete rundown in the Book Festival’s program.
