White Flint Now Dubbed “Pike District”

The White Flint area just might have found a new name.White Flint Partnership About

On Tuesday, the White Flint Partnership today announced its support for the name “Pike District” to be used for regional marketing and branding of the corridor along Rockville Pike, from North Bethesda to the Rockville city limits. “Pike District” emerged recently as the community’s clear preference, following a comprehensive market research and community input process that included direct feedback from a variety of stakeholders and culminated in a public charrette that allowed participants to share their preferences among 10 finalist names, according to a release from the Partnership. The name, however, won’t affect postal address or city/town designations for any businesses or homes in the area, according to the release.

Representatives of the White Flint Partnership attended a presentation on the results of this public charrette at a meeting this morning of the White Flint Downtown Advisory Committee.

The White Flint Partnership is a coalition of area real estate firms that are heavily invested along the noted corridor. Members of the White Flint Partnership include Federal Realty, Gables Residential, the JBG Companies, Lerner Enterprises, Saul Centers, and the Tower Companies.

The firms that make up the partnership have been working collaboratively for many years in support of a broad vision of the future of the corridor. Together, the firms are looking to help implement the joint community vision and ensure better coordination of the development projects and supporting infrastructure that are planned in the White Flint Master Plan approved by the Montgomery County Council.
