Wheaton Walking Tour Planned for Saturday
The Wheaton Urban District Advisory Committee (WUDAC) and the Coalition for Smarter Growth will host a walking tour of Wheaton on Saturday, May 7. The annual event is a way for the community to find out more about future development in the area.
During Saturday’s walking tour, officials from WUDAC and the County will discuss new development plans for Wheaton. Topics will include affordable housing, pedestrian and public safety, commute alternatives, green space and more. The theme for this year’s tour is “Envision Wheaton’s Future.” Devala Janardan is the chair of WUDAC.
“Wheaton is on the cusp of a large-scale renewal,” Janardan said in a news release. “This walking tour will allow the community to hear more about the County’s short- long-term plans for the area, and will also provide a chance for attendees to provide their own input.”
The tour is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. and last until 1 p.m from 2424 Reedie Drive. Those interested in attending must RSVP online for the event. For a detailed map of the walking tour, visit the Mid-County Regional Service Center website.
