Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett, County Council President Nancy Navarro, Councilmember Phil Andrews and Fire Chief Steven Lohr joined Wheaton Volunteer Rescue Squad (WVRS) Chief Tom Brown and President Allan Platky for the official dedication and grand opening ceremonies of the new Wheaton Volunteer Rescue Squad (WVRS) located at 2400 Arcola Avenue on Nov. 16. The WVRS was formed in 1955 and the newly constructed station replaces the existing one located at 11435 Grandview Avenue in Wheaton.

The ceremony was followed by a reception with light refreshments and tours of the new facility. The 29,000 foot facility includes a 250-seat community hall and will strengthen critical emergency services to the residents of Montgomery County.
