What’s Open, What’s Not in Montgomery County for Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Montgomery County released the holiday schedule for the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, which is observed January 20.

  • County Offices — closed.
  • Libraries — closed.
  • County Liquor Stores — open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Recreation Centers — closed.
  • Aquatics Facilities — open.

  • Ride On — Modified holiday schedule.  Route information available at https://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/DOT-Transit/SpecialHoliday.html.
  • Ride On Flex — No service on holidays.
  • Metrorail and Metrobus – Information available at www.wmata.com.
  • TRiPS Commuter Store at Silver Spring Transit Center — open.
  • TRiPS Mobile Commuter Store – closed.
  • Refuse/recycling Collections – County-provided trash and recycling collection will not be collected Monday, Jan. 20.  After the holiday, county-provided recycling and trash collections will slide, and be one day later than normal with last collection Saturday, Jan.25.
  • The Shady Grove Processing Facility and Transfer Station — entire facility closed.
  • Parking at public garages, lots, curbside meters – free.
  • MCPS Schools and Administrative Offices — closed.
  • State offices and courts — closed.
