Friday, May 27

  • The Friday Night Live concert series at Rockville Town Square continues tonight with The Crawdaddies band playing Zydeco style music. The food and beverage tent this week features the Buffalo Wild Wings. Hours are 6:30 to 9 p.m.
  • Bethesda Blues & Jazz Club present two performances of An Evening with Eric Benet at 7 and 10 p.m.
  • Zumba in the Park features an hour of high energy fun at the City Call Concert Pavillion in Gaithersburg at 7 p.m.
  • Olney Theatre presents Bakersfield Mist at 7:45 p.m.
  • Gaithersburg Arts Barn presents The Foreigner, a comedy with twists and turns, at 8 p.m.
  • AMP by Strathmore present the Donny McCaslin Group at 8 p.m. Saxonphonist Donny McCaslin performed on David Bowie’s final album, Blackstar.
  • Round House Theatre presents a funny new play by Ayad Akhtar about identify and religion. Don’t miss The Who & The What with a show at 8 p.m. in Bethesda.
  • The Friday Night Dancers present Contra dancing, with a dance lesson from 7:30 to 8:15 p.m.; followed by the called dance with George Marshall and Swallowtail from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. at the Spanish Ballroom in Glen Echo Park.

Saturday, May 28

  • If you are in the market for a car, check out the monthly police vehicle auction today from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Police Vehicle Recovery Facility in Gaithersburg.
  • The county outdoor pools open today at noon. The Western County Outdoor Pool in Poolesville has undergone renovations and the recreation department will host a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. Anyone attending the ribbon cutting will be invited to stay and swim for free.
  • The opening ceremony for the Flags for Our Heroes takes place at Bohrer Park at Summit Hall Farm in Gaithersburg at 11 a.m.  This annual display of 750 American flags honors community heroes, both past and present.
  • Splash into summer at the Gaithersburg Water Park at Bohrer Park. The water park opens today at 11 a.m. with a modified schedule now through June 17.
  • Rockville’s Hometown Holidays returns with the music festival and Taste of Rockville today and tomorrow. Check out the schedule of live music on the four stages and this list of participating restaurants.
  • Catch the Hawaiian spirit as Ukulele Phil & The Hula Kids perform at Germantown Library at 2 p.m. Free tickets are available one hour before the performance.
  • Olney Theatre presents Bakersfield Mist at 1:45 and 7:45 p.m.
  • Gaithersburg Arts Barn presents The Foreigner, a comedy with twists and turns, at 8 p.m.

  • Adventure Theatre presents The Emperor’s Nightingale at Glen Echo Park today with performances at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
  • The Puppet Co presents Sleeping Beauty at Glen Echo Park at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
  • The American Swing Music and Dance Association leads an evening of swing dance from 8 to midnight at the
    Spanish Ballroom in Glen Echo Park. Beginner swing dance lesson from 8 to 9 p.m. is available and will be followed by the dance from 9 to midnight.

Sunday, May 29

  • Rockville’s Hometown Holidays continues today with live music, restaurant tastings, activities for children and more. Here’s the schedule of live music on the four stages and the list of participating restaurants.
  • Adventure Theatre presents The Emperor’s Nightingale at Glen Echo Park today with performances at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
  • The Puppet Co presents Sleeping Beauty at Glen Echo Park at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
  • Round House Theatre presents a funny new play by Ayad Akhtar about identify and religion. Don’t miss The Who & The What with a show 2 p.m. in Bethesda.
  • Olney Theatre presents Bakersfield Mist at 1:45 and 7:45 p.m.
  • Gaithersburg Arts Barn presents the comedy, The Foreigner, at 2 p.m.
  • Bethesda Blues & Jazz Club present Foxtrappe 70’s Summer Soiree with 70’s dance music at 8 p.m.
