Friday, July 8: 

  • Enjoy visiting art studios during the monthly Bethesda Art Walk from 6 to 9 p.m. Gallery B is hosting an opening reception from 6 to 9 p.m. for their exhibit, “Manifestation of Abstract and Realism.”  The free Bethesda Circulator stops within a few blocks of each Bethesda Art Walk gallery.
  • Friday Night Live Concert Series at Rockville Town Square features rock by the Lloyd Dobler Effect Band at 6:30 p.m. Free.
  • Wrap the work week up with Gaithersburg’s Zumba in the Park at the City Hall Concert Pavilion at 7 p.m.
  • Montgomery College’s Chautauga humanities program wraps up tonight and focuses on Ernest Hemingway performed by Brian Gordon Sinclair. The free performance begins at 7 p.m. in the Globe Hall on the Germantown Campus.
  • Cirque Italia performs this week at the county fairgrounds. Tonight’s performance begins at 7:30 p.m.
  • The Spinners perform at Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club at 8 p.m.
  • Rockville Musical Theatre’s production of Rent opens tonight at 8 p.m. in Rockville at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre.
  • Olney Theatre presents the award-winning musical Evita by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice at 8 p.m.
  • AMP by Strathmore presents jazz vocalist Rochelle Rice at 8 p.m.
  • The Happenstance Theater group presents Moxie at Round House Theatre in Bethesda this month. Tonight’s performance begins at 8 p.m.
  • The Gaithersburg Fourth of July fireworks show will begin at dusk at Bohrer Park at Summit Hall Farm.

Saturday, July 9: 

  • Support your favorite Cal Ripken collegiate baseball team as they compete in the 7th Annual Feed the Hungry Challenge by donating food items at Giant Food stores from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Cirque Italia performs this week at the county fairgrounds. Today there are three performances at 2:30, 5:30 and 8:30 p.m.
  • Enjoy Hawaiian music and hula games in Gaithersburg at the Concert Pavilion from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The Hula Monsters perform Hawaiian rock and swing music at this free event.
  • The BlackRock Center for the Arts free summer concert tonight features The Sweetback Sisters performing county music at 7 p.m.
  • The Chicago Red Stars take on the Washington Spirit in women’s professional soccer at the Maryland Soccerplex at 7 p.m. in Boyds.
  • Explore your creative side at the Pinot and Plants class at VisArts in Rockville at 7 p.m.
  • Rockville Musical Theatre’s production of Rent continues tonight at 8 p.m. at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre in Rockville.
  • Olney Theatre presents the award-winning musical Evita by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice at 2 and 8 p.m.
  • R&B singer Meli’sa Morgan performs at the Bethesda Blues & Jazz Club at 8 p.m.
