Weekend Planner, August 18 – August 20 (VIDEO)

Got weekend plans? This is the last weekend to enjoy the  Montgomery County Agricultural Fair at the fairgrounds in Gaithersburg. It’s also the last weekend to purchase selected items tax free during Maryland’s Tax Free Week which ends Aug. 19.

Below are some other ideas for fun this weekend in Montgomery County:

Friday, Aug. 18

10 a.m.-midnight, Montgomery County Agricultural Fair, 501 Perry Parkway, Gaithersburg
1 p.m. -2 p.m., It’s all things Elvis.  Sing your hearts out during “Elvis Karaole” at the Margaret Schweinhaut Senior Center in Silver Spring.
6 p.m. – 9 p.m., Billy Vaughan is performing this week for the Rio Summer Concert Series at the Rio Washingtonian in Gaithersburg
7 p.m., Enjoy Reggae music as Jah Works performs for the TGIF Summer Concert Series in Wheaton’s Veterans Park


7 p.m.,  Zumba in the Park, Concert Pavilion, Gaithersburg
7:45 p.m., Thurgood, Olney Theatre Center (limited seating, some performances selling out)

8 p.m., The LEGO Batman Movie, Silver Spring’s FREE Outdoor Summer Screening Series, Veterans Plaza

Saturday, Aug. 19

All Day, Shopping, Tax Free Week ends today in Maryland.

9 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., Farmer’s & Artists Market, Main Street Pavilion, Gaithersburg
10:00 a.m.-midnight, It’s the last day to enjoy the 2017 Montgomery County Agricultural Fair.
11:00 a.m- 5 p.m., Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center will participate in the national “Clear the Shelters Animal Adoption” event: a nationwide pet adoption initiative that aims to connect animals in need with loving new families. All adoption fees at MCASAC will be waived for this event.

1 p.m. – 4 p.m., Backyard BBQ. Mid Coumty Community Recreation Center in Silver Spring.
3 p.m., Join Olney Library for an open mic event to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. Be prepared to sing along.
6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Watch your favorite local bands live during Nando’s Spicy Saturday Night Concerts at the Fountain Plaza Stage in Silver Spring.

Sunday, Aug. 20

8 a.m.-10:30 a.m. – Rabies Vaccination Clinic, Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center, Derwood.
10 a.m., Ride the Rockville Bike Beltway with your family and friends. (Rain at start cancels the ride.) Riders will meet at Wootton High School.

2 p.m.-10 p.m., Jamaica Independence Celebration at Ellsworth (Fenton St. to Veterans Plaza) in Silver Spring.

3 p.m.-5 p.m., The Farthest: Voyager in Space Movie Screening at the Arts Barn in Gaithersburg.
