  • Montgomery County Master Gardeners hosts the “Grow Anywhere” gardening expo from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Silver Spring Civic Building. Learn how to garden, especially when working in small spaces.
  • Rockville’s spring festival and native plant sale take place at Croyden Creek Nature Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Don’t know what to do with old, unwanted prescription drugs? Bring them for disposal to various locations around the county during the Prescription Drug Take Back Day event between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.  The Rockville and Gaithersburg police departments are also accepting unwanted prescription drugs.
  • Explore Glen Echo Park during the annual Family Day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event celebrates the opening of the historic Dentzel Carousel for the 96th season. Free performances include a magic show, traditional Irish dance, barbershop quartet and much more.
  • The 2nd Annual GreenFest takes place today at the Takoma Park Community Center from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is your opportunity to learn how to green your home and neighborhood with entertainment and activities. This is a family-friendly event.
  • The Puppet Co presents Sleeping Beauty at Glen Echo Park at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
  • The Move More Montgomery Festival celebrates a healthy lifestyle with free, family and dog-friendly activities. The festival takes place at the Bauer Drive Community Recreation Center in Rockville from noon to 4 p.m.
  • The Rockville Mayor and Council invite the Hungerford neighborhood to a walking town meeting from 4 to 6 p.m.
  • Rockville Little Theatre presents Thorton Wilder’s Our Town at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre in Rockville at 8 p.m.
  • The Montgomery College Rockville Dance Company’s spring concert takes place at 8 p.m. at the Parilla Performing Arts Center, Rockville Campus.
  • Olney Theatre’s production of Dial ‘M’ for Murder has performances at 2 and 8 p.m.
  • The Soul Crackers perform at the Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club at 8 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m.
  • The Mersey Beatles perform a tribute concert at AMP by Strathmore at 8 p.m.

Sunday, May 1

  • The Puppet Co presents Sleeping Beauty at Glen Echo Park at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
  • The Montgomery County Master Gardeners, part of the University of Maryland Extension, will host the Grow It Eat It Spring Open House  at the Agricultural History Farm Park in Derwood from noon to 4 p.m. Activities are available for both adults and children.   • Rockville Art League’s annual juried show at the Glenview Mansion opens with a free reception from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. The Rockville Singers will perform in the conservatory at 2 p.m.
