Wednesday’s Thanksgiving Travel Predicted to Make Tracks

If you are headed over the hills or through the woods this Thanksgiving season take care to have snow tires.

Weather forecasters predict most will see at least a little snow on Wednesday, one of the busiest travel days of the year.

According to WeatherBug, Montgomery County will see rain and snow in the morning on Wednesday switching over to all snow by afternoon. Total accumulation could be one to three inches, according to the website.

As you sit down to your Thanksgiving meal, temperatures are expected to hit the upper 30s. And by Sunday, WeatherBug shows temps are back up in the 50s. That’s good news for Black Friday shoppers, who will be spared a slippery trip to the sales.

Charlie Gischlar, a public information officer for SHA, said that State Highway Administration officials had their routinely conference call and crews loaded up their trucks Tuesday afternoon and were scheduled to report back at midnight.

“We don’t expect major major stick to the road … We’re going to be prepared anyway [and] try to get out ahead of the storm,” Gischlar said.

He also asked drivers to be aware when snowplows are cleaning the roadways and urged drivers to give plow operators plenty of space and never try to pass them.

“The best place to be is behind the snowplow,” Gischlars said.
