Weather Causing Power Outages, Closures
In addition to closing Montgomery County Public Schools today, the weather is forcing other closings and cancellations.
Red Line trains are operating at slower speeds above ground due to the high winds and running approximately every 12 minutes on each line. Riders should expect delays.
There are reports of power outages due to downed lines this morning. According to Pepco’s power outage map, more than ten thousand customers are without power this morning. Outages and downed power lines should be reported by calling 1.877.737.2662 or online at pepco.com/storm.
Federal offices in the area are closed today.
Montgomery County Government employees are expected to report to duty as scheduled. Liberal leave is available for non-essential employees.
All three campuses of Montgomery College are closed today.
All Montgomery County Department of Recreation programs, classes, and activities are canceled for today. The county’s community centers and aquatic centers are open for drop-in activities. The county’s senior centers are closed.
