Water Main Break Closes Connecticut Avenue

A massive water main break has closed all northbound and southbound lanes of Connecticut Avenue between Manor Road and Dunlop Street near Chevy Chase Circle.

A video posted on the Bethesda Patch site shows a geyser shooting water high up into the air as police stand nearby.

Washington Sanitary Suburban Commission (WSSC) crews are on scene but there’s been no word on what caused the break.

According to a recorded message on the after hours WSSC media line, customers in Bethesda, Chevy Chase, and Silver Spring may experience low water pressure, discoloration of water, and/or service interruption while repairs are being made.
