On Oct. 28, CourtWatch Montgomery Executive Director Laurie Duker talked about the efforts the all-volunteer, non-profit organization performs in fighting domestic violence by working to improve the process that abuse victims face as they move through in the county courts. The County Council honored Courtwatch for its efforts.

In less than four years since the group was formed, CourtWatch has observed more than 1,000 restraining order hearings and volunteers have contributed more than 1,400 hours. Also at the ceremonies in Rockville were, left to right: Maureen Green, Lillian Agbeyegbe, Judy Wilson, Sheila Footer and Councilmember Phil Andrews.
