Video Shows Suspect in Attempted Armed Robbery of Silver Spring Food Truck

Newly released surveillance video shows a male suspect whom investigators believe attempted an armed robbery in downtown Silver Spring on Oct. 12.

Detectives from the Major Crimes Division say the male suspect approached the Silver Hot Dog food truck on Wayne Avenue, just outside the Silver Spring Metro Station. The suspect threated an employee with a weapon, demanding cash from the food truck.

However, investigators say the suspect fled the scene on foot towards the Silver Spring Metro Station before attaining any property or cash.

Police released the surveillance video on Dec. 2 in the hope that the public can help identify the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5100. A cash reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest in this case.
