Upper Marlboro Man Faces Sex Charges for Attack on 12-Year-Old
A 59-year-old Upper Marlboro man has been charged in connection with the sex assault of a 12-year-old girl from Wheaton, a Montgomery County police statement said.
James Allen Booker of Weymouth Street has been charged with the second-degree rape and third-degree sex offense, police said.
Booker drove the victim to her home Thursday and assaulted her in his vehicle, police said.
Booker and the victim did not know each other prior to this incident.
The victim told detectives that on the afternoon of May 23, she was walking home from school during a thunderstorm, police said. As she walked home, the suspect pulled his vehicle alongside her and asked her if she would like a ride home, police said. The victim accepted the suspect’s offer, entered his vehicle and provided him with her home address, police said.
The suspect drove the victim to her home and parked his vehicle in front. The suspect then sexually assaulted the victim as they sat in his parked car, police said. After the assault, the suspect allowed the victim to leave. The victim entered her home and immediately told a parent about what had just occurred. The parent then contacted the police.
During the investigation, detectives identified Booker as the suspect, police said. Booker was arrested Tuesday where he worked in Wheaton on the strength of a Montgomery County arrest warrant, police said.
Booker was transported to the Central Processing Unit where he was charged. Bail information for Booker is not yet available.
