Silver Spring Coast Guardsman: ‘I am dreaming of a way to kill almost every last person on the earth’

A Coast Guard lieutenant from Silver Spring, who espoused extremist views of white nationalism, faces drug and firearms charges, according to the Justice Department.
Christopher Hasson, 49, was arrested Friday by agents of the FBI Baltimore Field Office and the Coast Guard Investigative Service, according to the Justice Department statement.
He has been detained pending a hearing scheduled for 1 p.m. today in U.S. District Court in Greenbelt before U.S. Magistrate Judge Charles B. Day.
The government is seeking detention for Hasson pending trial.
Documents filed in the Hasson case show he had 15 handguns, long guns and military-style weapons plus at least 1,000 rounds of ammunition. Prosecutors found an email on his computer that included: “I am dreaming of a way to kill almost every last person on the earth.” The email discussed using biological weapons and sniper attacks.
The drug charges stem from his efforts to acquire Tramadol, a synthetic opioid painkiller. The documents also say he acquired devices meant to mask the drug in his urine.
