Arrests Made for Twinbrook Robberies (Photos)

Rockville City Police arrested two people on Dec. 13 in connection with three separate robbery and assault incidents near the Twinbrook Metro Station. Police say three women were assaulted in separate purse-snatching incidents near the Metro station.

The police report indicates the two suspects arrested are;

  • Jermaine Huntley Jr., age 23, of an unknown address.
  • Maria Engrasia Sandoval Bonilla, age 20, with a last known address of the 1100 block of Scott Avenue, in Rockville.

Both were arrested Dec. 13 and charged with three counts of robbery, three counts of second-degree assault, three counts of conspiracy to commit second-degree assault, conspiracy to commit robbery and multiple counts of theft and illegal use of credit cards.

The first incident, according to police account, occurred Dec. 5 at approximately 7:55 p.m. near Ridgeway Avenue and Lemay Road. According to police, a woman was walking home from the Twinbrook Metro Station when a subject approached her from behind, struck her and knocked her to the ground before fleeing with her purse.

Police say, the second incident occurred on Dec. 7 at approximately 9:15 p.m. near Stanley Avenue and Matthews Drive when a woman was walking when a subject approached her from behind, struck her and fled with her purse.

The third incident occurred Dec 8. about 8:45 p.m. near Lemay Road and Holland Road when, according to police, a woman was walking when a subject approached her from behind, knocked her to the ground and grabbed her purse, dragging the woman until the purse was freed.

Police indicate evidence from the Dec. 5 incident was recovered from the suspects’ vehicle and additional evidence was collected from a suspect’s relative’s home in Rockville.

Huntley, Jr. is being held at the Montgomery County Detention Center on $250,000 bond. Sandoval Bonilla was released on her own recognizance.
