An armed carjacking took place about 3:30 p.m. New Year’s Eve in 11100 block of Veirs Mill Road in Wheaton, and Montgomery County police said Wednesday that two people are in custody.

Online court records say Eric Ebryma Jeng, 24, of the 12900 block of Winterthur Lane in Silver Spring, and Tabatha Samantha Frampton, 23, of the unit block of R Street NE, Washington, DC, are being held without bail at the Montgomery County Detention Center.

Responding officers found the victim who said that two carjackers had displayed a handgun and had taken her vehicle, police said. A lookout was placed for the stolen vehicle along with a description of the two.

About 3:44 p.m., officers responding to the call spotted the stolen vehicle and were able to perform a traffic stop in the area of Columbia Pike and Greencastle Road, police said. The two were taken into custody without incident.  A replica handgun was retrieved on the scene of the traffic stop.

This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone who has information about the incident is asked to call Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5100.
