Troopers Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Collision on I-270

police-line-do-not-cross-for-slider-450x280Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred overnight on southbound I-270 north of Germantown Road involving a tractor trailer.

Troopers said they were alerted to the collision shortly before 1:30 a.m. on March 18.

According to a Maryland State Police account, the driver of the tractor trailer told troopers that he noticed a Nissan Xterra positioned on the right shoulder of the road. The truck driver told police when he looked back in the roadway he saw a man walking in lane three of the roadway. Police said the driver told troopers he was unable to avoid the man walking in the roadway, and subsequently struck the man. Police said the truck driver pulled over to the right shoulder immediately, and called 911.

The investigation continues.
