Tree House CAC of Montgomery County Builds Two Child-Friendly Therapy Rooms with Help from Social Media Users

A Montgomery County 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to protect children and adolescents from maltreatment was able to build two brand new therapy rooms after efforts from supporters on social media.

A post shared by one of the Tree House CAC of Montgomery County’s supporters on social media eventually led to a grant for two of the three new therapy rooms the organization wanted to build. In addition to the grant, Germantown design company Yzign donated “time, energy, and talent” to help create the rooms after the company’s owners, Alex and Iwona Petrov, were made aware of Tree House’s work through social media.

The Tree House CAC is still looking for donations to build a third therapy room. The organization hopes to raise funds for the room through a #GivingTuesday campaign on November 28. Donations can be made at this link.

According to their website, the Tree House provides the following services:

• Ongoing Mental Health Therapy for the child and non-offending family members

• Management of Montgomery County’s Multidisciplinary Child Abuse Team

According to the Tree House CAC’s Director of Community Partnerships, Nina Blecher, the rooms where the two new therapy rooms currently exist were formerly cubicle spaces.
