Thursday Night Storms Leave Damage Throughout the County

Storms that ravaged through the county on Thursday night left some streets flooded, several vehicles stranded in high waters, and thousands without power.

Around 9:47 p.m. fire and rescue crews responded to a tree that fell on a car on Delford Ave near Randolph Road in Colesville. A woman was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police told MyMCMedia Friday that the woman died from her injuries.

Officials say dozens of cars also had to be rescued from flooded roadways throughout the night. No other serious injuries were reported.

Pepco crews worked through the night to restore their customers power after heavy rains and wind. If you’re experiencing an outage or see a downed wire, call Pepco at 877.737.2662. To check outage status visit
