Three Pack Robberies Reported in Montgomery County Police Crime Summary

Three pack robberies — in Montgomery Village, Germantown and Wheaton — were reported in the latest Montgomery County police crime summary.

Police spokesman Officer Rick Goodale said he didn’t believe the reports were linked because of the distances involved.

“We sometimes go through these surges in pack robberies,” Officer Rick Goodale said. “It’s not common but it’s not uncommon either.”

The Montgomery Village incident took place 11:49 p.m. April 14, according to the summary. Ten to 15 males committed a strong-arm robbery on two adult males, taking their property, in the 9800 block of Washingtonian Boulevard.

The Germantown incident involved 10 males committing a strong-arm robbery in the 19700 block of Crystal Rock Drive about 9 p.m. April 16. The robbers assaulted the adult male victim and took his cash and property.

The Wheaton incident occurred about 7:19 p.m. April 17. Six to eight males committed a strong-arm robbery in the 11100 block of Veirs Mill Road, assaulting a juvenile male victim and taking his cash and property.

Rockville:

A residential burglary occurred in the 8700 block of Cold Spring Road between about 2 p.m. and about 9 p.m. April 11. Forced entry; property was taken.

Bethesda:

A strong-arm robbery occurred in the 10500 block of Connecticut Avenue about 8:07 a.m. April 16. The suspect assaulted the adult female victim and took her property.

A residential burglary occurred in the 8100 block of Park Lane about 3:17 p.m. April 15. No signs of forced entry; the garage door was reported to have been left open, and the door leading into the house unlocked; nothing was taken. A 52-year-old Silver Spring woman was arrested.

A commercial strong-arm robbery occurred at the Walgreens at 10101 River Road about 1:07 p.m. April 15. Two men assaulted an employee and stole medication. The men were described as being between the ages of 20 and 29.

Silver Spring:

Multiple thefts from vehicles occurred between April 11 and April 17. Affected streets included East Falkland Lane, Eastern Avenue, 1st Avenue, Lockwood Drive, Wheeler Drive, Northwest Drive, Stateside Drive, Corams Lane, Camley Way, Cloudberry Court, Dunwood Terrace, Cotton Tree Lane, Castle Boulevard, Athey Road, Crosswood Drive, Swan House Court, Red Cedar Lane, Ballet Way, Strawberry Lane, Red Cedar Drive, Cross Valley Road, Childress Terrace, and Cross River Court. Force was reported in multiple events, unknown means of entry into the other vehicles; cash and property were taken.

An 18-year-old from Silver Spring was arrested for the Lockwood Drive and Wheeler Drive thefts. Two Silver Spring teenagers — one 15 the other 17 —were arrested for the Stateside Drive thefts.

A residential garage burglary occurred in the 800 block of Violet Place between about 10 p.m. April 13 and 8:45 a.m. April 16. No signs of forced entry; the garage door was reported to have been left open; property was taken.

Three men attempted an armed robbery in the 8200 block of Colonial Lane about 12:30 p.m. April 17. One man displayed a weapon. A 38-year-old of an unconfirmed address was arrested. Two other men are sought; one is 60 to 69 years old.

A residential burglary occurred in the 100 block of Melbourne Avenue between about 7:30 p.m. and about 9:30 p.m. April 11. Forced entry; nothing was taken.

Four men committed an armed robbery in the 11100 block of New Hampshire Avenue about 9 p.m. April 16. One of the men displayed a weapon. The men assaulted the adult male victim and took his property.

A residential shed burglary occurred in the 100 block of Alpen Green Court between about 10:30 p.m. April 11 and about 5:30 a.m. April 12. Forced entry; property was taken.

Wheaton:

A 25- to 35-year-old man committed a commercial strong-arm robbery at the Giant Gas Station at 13455 New Hampshire Avenue about 9:45 p.m. April 12. The robber stole cash.

A residential burglary occurred in the 1300 block of Crockett Lane between about 11:13 p.m. April 14 and about 1 a.m. April 15. No signs of forced entry, the front door was reported to have been left unlocked; nothing was taken. A 30-year-old man of an unconfirmed address was arrested.

An attempted residential burglary occurred in the 2600 block of Gold Mine Road between about 7:30 p.m. and about 8:45 p.m. April 18.

A residential shed burglary occurred in the 3800 block of Wendy Lane between about 7 p.m. April 13 and about 7 a.m. April 14. Forced entry; property was taken.

Multiple thefts from vehicles occurred between April 11 and April 13. Affected streets included Judson Road, Clay Street, Grandview Avenue, College View Drive and Watermill Lane. No force, two vehicles were reported to have been left unlocked, unknown means of entry into the other vehicles; cash, property, and vehicle parts were taken.

A residential burglary occurred in the 12300 block of Valleywood Drive between about 3:30 p.m. April 15 and about 11 a.m. April 16. Forced entry; nothing was taken.

A 27-year-old man with an unconfirmed address was arrested for a bank robbery that occurred at the Capital One Bank at 11241 Georgia Avenue about 1:30 p.m. April 12. The robber stole cash.

A residential garage burglary occurred in the 1900 block of Westchester Drive between about 10:30 a.m. and about 5 p.m. April 16. No signs of forced entry, the garage door was reported to have been left open; property was taken.

Six to eight males committed a strong-arm robbery in the 11100 block of Veirs Mill Road about 7:19 p.m. April 17. The robbers assaulted the juvenile male victim and took his cash and property.

Germantown:

Three men committed a strong-arm robbery in the 20100 block of Brandermill Road about 8:20 p.m. April 16. The men took the two adult male victims’ property and one of the robbers assaulted one of the victims.

A residential garage burglary occurred in the 12100 block of Cypress Spring Road about 3:30 p.m. April 18. No signs of forced entry, the garage door was reported to have been left open; nothing was taken. Two men are sought.

An aggravated assault occurred in the area of Wynnfield Drive and Shore Harbour Drive about 4 p.m. April 11. One of the suspects displayed a weapon. Police seek two men.

A vehicle theft occurred in the 20200 block of Shipley Terrace between about 10 p.m. April 11 and about 5:50 a.m. April 12. Unknown entry.

Multiple thefts from vehicles occurred between April 11 and April 13. Affected streets included Waters Point Lane, Waters Row Terrace, and Walnutwood Lane. No force, one vehicle was reported to have been left unlocked, unknown means of entry into the other vehicles; cash and property were taken.

Montgomery Village:

Ten to 15 males committed a strong-arm robbery in the 9800 block of Washingtonian Boulevard about 11:49 p.m. April 14. The robbers assaulted the two adult male victims’ and took their property.

Two thefts from vehicles occurred in the 17000 block of Downing Street between about 7 p.m. April 14 and about 9 a.m. April 15. No force, unknown means of entry into the vehicles; cash and property were taken.

An aggravated assault occurred in the 9600 block of Lost Knife Road about 5:46 p.m. April 15. The suspect displayed a weapon. A 34-year-old Gaithersburg man was arrested.

An attempted commercial burglary occurred at the MV Veterinary Center at 9144 Rothbury Drive in the early morning hours of April 17.

Multiple thefts from vehicles occurred between April 13 and April 15. Affected streets included Pepper Ridge Way, Hoover Farm Drive, and Snow Creek Drive. Force was reported in one event, one vehicle was reported to have been left unlocked, unknown means of entry into the other vehicles; cash and property were taken.
