Three Fatalities in Multi-Car Accident in Wheaton

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police, Collision Reconstruction Unit, are continuing to investigate a fatal collision that occurred on Sunday, June 9 at 9:47 p.m. at Georgia Avenue and Kayson Street in Wheaton.

According to police, the preliminary investigation revealed that a maroon 2000 Nissan Sentra was making a left turn from eastbound Kayson Street on to northbound Georgia Avenue when it was struck by a blue 2008 Volkswagon Passat and an orange 2011 Chevrolet Camaro, both of which were traveling southbound on Georgia Avenue.

All four occupants of the Nissan were ejected. Two occupants were pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the Nissan was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries later in the evening. A fourth occupant was also transported to a hospital in serious condition.

The driver of the Nissan Sentra is identified as Salvador Lemus Ramos, of the 12900 block of Crisfield Road in Wheaton. The two deceased passengers in the collision are identified as Felipe Pineda, of the 3700 block of Bel Pre Road in Wheaton and Elizabeth Lemus, age 4, of the Crisfield Road address. The injured passenger is identified as Elba Pineda, age 31, also of the Crisfield Road address.

The driver of the Volkswagon Passat is identified as Shaka Wakefield, age 25, of the 12700 block of Epping Terrace in Wheaton.

The driver of the Chevrolet Camaro is identified as Audias Sanchez, age 35, of the 12500 block of Winexburg Manor Drive in Wheaton.

This collision remains under investigation.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police, Collision Reconstruction Unit, are investigating a fatal collision that occurred the evening of Sunday, June 9, in the Aspen Hill area of Wheaton.
At approximately 9:47 p.m., 4th District officers responded to the area of Georgia Avenue and Kayson Street for a report of a serious personal injury collision. According to police, upon arrival, officers located three vehicles which had been involved in a collision. Two occupants, an adult and a child, were pronounced deceased on the scene. Four other adults were transported to local hospitals where one victim succumbed to their injuries later that evening.
At this time, there is no further information regarding the identities of the drivers and passengers.
