Voting Centers Welcome Hundreds in Montgomery County
Early voting is underway in Montgomery County and over 3,400 residents have already taken advantage of the opportunity to cast their ballot before the April 3 Presidential Primary election in Maryland.
From now until March 29, five early voting centers are open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the following sites: Bauer Drive Community Recreation Center, Germantown Recreation Center, Marilyn J. Praisner Community Recreation Center, Executive Office Building and the Silver Spring Civic Building.
Elections Board Spokesperson Margie Rohrer said there have been no problems since early voting began over the weekend. She described turnout as steady but slow. On Saturday, 197 voters per hour were casting their ballots and on Sunday the turnout was about 250 voters an hour. The polls were open fewer hours on Sunday.
According to Rohrer, the Bauer Drive Community Recreation Center and the Germantown Recreation Center have seen the biggest turnouts followed bythe Silver Spring Center Civic Building.
A total of 3,472 voters cast their ballots over the two-day weekend at the five polling places.
The ballot for this year’s election includes candidates for President, U.S. Senate, Congressional representatives, Circuit Court and the Court of Appeals judges, Democratic National Committee and Republican National Committee delegates and the members of the Montgomery County Board of Election.
Voters have until Tuesday, March 27 to submit an application for an absentee ballot. For more information, call the Board of Elections offices at 240.777.VOTE (8683).
