Thousands Pay Respects to Justice Ginsburg Outside Supreme Court

Thousands of people gathered to pay their respects to Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg at the Supreme Court of the United States in DC on Wednesday.

Many remember her as a trailblazer for women’s rights and as someone who helped to move the nation closer to equal justice under law.

Justice Ginsburg’s casket arrived in front of the Court just before 9:30 a.m., which was followed by a private ceremony inside the Great Hall attended by her family, close friends, and members of the Court. Many of Ginsburg’s former law clerks served as honorary pallbearers lining the front steps when the casket arrived.

Justice Ginsburg will lie in repose at the top of the building’s front steps. The public is invited to pay respects from 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday and from 9:00 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Thursday.

MyMCMedia was there to get reaction from some of those gathered.

Ginsburg’s casket will be placed in National Statuary Hall on Friday, making her the first woman in history to lie in state in the US Capitol.

A private interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery next week.
