Things to Know for Nov. 6 in Montgomery County

Here’s five things to know today, Nov. 6, in Montgomery County:

1. Booming in Bethesda: Weather permitting, single controlled blasts are planned to occur between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. for the Md. 355/Rockville Pike Crossing Project near NSAB/Walter Reed, NIH and the Medical Center Metro Station in Bethesda. A warning siren will sound approximately five minutes before the blast. Another siren will sound one minute before the blast. It is anticipated that minimal blast vibrations or noise from the warning sirens may be detected by people within the immediate vicinity of the blast site. There are no plans to halt vehicular or pedestrian traffic during the blasts.

2. Finding Homes for the Homeless: Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless holds its Home Conference from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Johns Hopkins University’s Montgomery County campus. The conference promotes best practices to end homelessness and will be attended by relevant professionals.

3. For the Arts: This year’s County Executive’s Awards for Excellence in the Arts and Humanities is at 7 p.m. at Round House Theatre in Bethesda.
