The Year of the Rooster, Residents Bring in the Chinese New Year in Gaithersburg
It was a day filled with live entertainment and hands-on activities. Residents brought in the official start to the Chinese New Year early Saturday at Lakeforest Mall in Gaithersburg.
The celebration was sponsored by the Chinese Culture and Community Service Center (CCACC) of Montgomery County.
“We want to show our Chinese culture to everybody,” said Lifang Liu, deputy executive director, Chinese Culture and Community Service Center (CCACC). ‘From this presentation and some of the performers, people can learn exactly how Chinese people bring in the Lunar New Year.”
The Lunar Year Year officially began on Jan. 28 and marks the “Year of the Rooster.”
Liu said entertainers will continue to celebrate the Lunar New Year at Lakeforest Mall on the weekends until Feb. 4.
