The guest speaker for the program is Congressman John Delaney.

Students from the Fall 2013 and Spring 2014 baccalaureate and PharmD programs will be honored during the event.

The student speaker is Joanna Linn who will soon be a bachelor’s degree graduate of Towson University’s Elementary Education and Special Education program and currently is a student teacher at Ronald McNair Elementary School in Germantown.

Linn, who was born with Stargardt’s Disease, an eye disease that is the most common form of inherited juvenile Macular Degeneration, grew up in Gaithersburg and was homeschooled her entire life.

“Though painful and challenging at times, I could not have been around a more supportive and caring family,” said Linn in her speaker’s biography. “With a desire to stay close to the area where my family, friends, and church were located I decided to attend Montgomery College.  While attending that school I had great support from my friends and family and grew in my love for teaching.  Upon receiving my associate’s degree I transferred to Towson University at the Universities at Shady Grove where I am finishing my Bachelor’s with duel certification in Elementary Education and Special Education.”
