Montgomery County COVID-19 Statistics for April 12

Since Friday, April 9, the Maryland Department of Health has reported 371 new cases of COVID-19 in Montgomery County — 138 Saturday, 131 Sunday and 102 Monday. The county’s cumulative case count is 68,144.

The county most recently reported that 112 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 in Montgomery County as of April 6.

Montgomery County recorded four new coronavirus-related fatalities since Friday, April 9. The death toll currently is 1,447.

The county has a rolling seven-day average of 2.97% for positive COVID-19 tests, which is an increase of 0.22 from Sunday’s average rate of 2.75%. The county’s positivity rate is lower than in 22 of Maryland’s 24 jurisdictions.

Montgomery County leads the state in total COVID-19 related fatalities (1,447) but not in total cases. Prince George’s County has 1,379 fatalities and the most coronavirus cases in the state with 80,228 cases.

Somerset County on the Eastern Shore has the highest per capita cases with 97.6 cases per 1,000 residents. Allegany County in the western region of the state has the second-highest cases per capita at 94.2 cases per 1,000 residents.

Maryland COVID-19 Statistics for April 12

Since Friday, April 9, the state recorded 4,052 new infections — 1,584 Saturday, 1,483 Sunday, and 985 Monday. The state’s cumulative case count is 427,715.

On Monday, the state reported 1,233 patients were hospitalized across the state with the virus. COVID-19 related hospitalizations have been rising, but now appear to be at a plateau.

Maryland recorded 46 new coronavirus-related fatalities since Friday, April — 20 Saturday, 11 Sunday and 15 Monday — bringing the death toll to 8,284.

The state reported a rolling seven-day average of 5.6% for positive COVID-19 tests Monday. This is an increase of 0.19 from Sunday’s rate of 5.41%.
