Montgomery County COVID-19 Statistics

Since Friday, Dec. 11, the Maryland Department of Health has reported 1,531 new cases of COVID-19 in Montgomery County—622 Saturday, 504 Sunday and 405 Monday. The county’s cumulative case count is 39,721.

The county has a rolling seven-day average of 5.93% for positive COVID-19 tests, which is a decrease of 0.13 from Sunday’s average rate of 6.05%. The county’s positivity rate is lower than in 19 of Maryland’s 24 jurisdictions.


Montgomery County recorded 12 new coronavirus-related fatalities since Friday, Dec. 11—five Saturday, five Sunday and two Mondaybringing the death toll to 980.

The county leads the state in total COVID-19 related fatalities but not in total cases; Prince George’s County has 967 fatalities and the most coronavirus cases in the state with 47,682 cases.

Maryland COVID-19 Statistics

Since Friday, Dec. 11, the state recorded 8,493 new infections—3,538 Saturday, 2,638 Sunday, and 2,314 Monday. This is the 14th consecutive day the state recorded more than two thousand new daily cases. The state’s cumulative case count is 236,961.

COVID-19 related hospitalizations continue to climb. On Monday, the state reported a record-high 1,742 patients were hospitalized across the state with the virus.

Maryland recorded 77 new coronavirus-related fatalities since Friday, Dec. 11—36 Saturday, 17 Sunday and 24 Mondaybringing the death toll to 4,978.

The state reported a rolling seven-day average of 7.46% for positive COVID-19 tests Monday. This is an increase of 0.05 from Sunday’s rate of 7.41%.
