Libraries Aim to Engage Youth in Digital Technology Resources from March 4-10

Teen Tech Week programs are scheduled for multiple branches of the Montgomery County Public Libraries system the week of March 4-10.

Teen Tech Week is a national initiative of the Young Adult Library Services Association with the goal to encourage teens to take advantage of the digital technology resources, programs and services at libraries.

A few of the technology programs will take place as follows:

• March 6 from 4 to 5 p.m.
  Jelly Cam: Students will learn how to make their own stop motion animation using JellyCam.

• March 7 from 4 to 5 p.m.
  Light Photography: Participants will learn the basic techniques of light painting (a photographic technique in which exposures are made by moving a hand-held light source while taking a long exposure photograph).

• March 7 from 3:30 to 5 p.m.
  Pocket Green Screen: Create a mini, portable green screen for making mini movies.

• March 10 from 2 to 4 p.m.
  Stop Motion Animation: Teens will learn to make their own stop motion animations. No video editing experience necessary.

  Robotics Demonstration:  A team from the Rockville Montgomery Robotics Association will demonstrate their robot for the 2017-2018 First Tech Challenge Competition.
