Teen Resiliency Discussion Set for Oct. 27

teenagedrivingiStock_000014433188XSmallThe public is invited to attend a free interactive workshop, to be held on October 27 at 7 p.m. at Watkins Mill High School, that will help empower parents to explore the risks that can hinder their children’s academic achievement. The school is at 10301 Apple Ridge Way, Gaithersburg.

Entitled “Promoting Teen Resiliency,” the program will teach parents how to participate in activities that will enhance communication between them and their and teens.Teen resilience is described as the ability to navigate life’s ups and downs and to decrease the stress associated with the teen years.

Parents will also receive a tool kit that can be used when engaging youth about risks that can contribute to low academic achievement.

The workshop is sponsored by Montgomery County Public Schools’(MCPS) Parent Academy and Many Voices for Smart Choices, Montgomery County’s Alliance to Prevent Youth Substance Abuse. Onsite child care and translators will be provided.
