Teen Charged With Germantown Armed Robbery of a Man on a Bike

Police arrested a 15-year-old Rockville boy saying the teen used a gun to rob a man who was riding his bike on Waring Station Road in Germantown Aug.12.photo of Montgomery County Police Car

A 51-year-old victim told police he was riding his bicycle on Waring Station Road near Middlebrook Road about 6:20 p.m. Aug. 12 when a teen who had been hiding behind trees, jumped in front of the him and stood on the sidewalk, according to a police press release. The teen was then joined by three men. One man held onto the victim’s bicycle handlebars, while the 15-year-old took a handgun from under his shirt and pressed it into the victim’s side, according to the police release.

The teen then allegedly demanded the victim’s money and began to remove property from the victim’s person and backpack. The four then ran away, police said..

The victim was able to provide a description of the 15-year-old  and officers began to look for him. Officers found the boy walking in the area of Stoney Bottom Lane and Waring Station Road and attempted to stop him, according to police. The teen ran from the officers but was arrested at about 7:30 p.m. Aug. 12 after a chase through a wooded area and underground drainage system, police said. The gun was not located, according to the release.

The teen was charged with armed robbery and is currently in the custody of the Alfred D. Noyes Children’s Center in Rockville.
