Takoma Radio Receives EPIC Award for Innovation (VIDEO)
Takoma Radio received the EPIC Award for Innovation in Community Media on June 8th. Congressman Jamie Raskin presented the EPIC award to Désirée Bayonet at The Fillmore in Silver Spring. Bayonet is the program and training director for Takoma Radio WOWD-LP 94.3 FM.
Takoma Radio is a non-commercial volunteer run station providing radio production training. The mission of the station is to offer hyper-local, non-commercial radio to a diverse, urban community with a coverage area including Northeast and Northwest DC, and Prince George’s and Montgomery counties in Maryland. Their goal is to include individuals, groups, issues, stories, music and history that are overlooked or under-represented by other media.
