These are the JOY Supernovas of Montgomery County!  Although competitive cheer has been a sport for special Olympics Maryland the past 11 years, this year- for the first time ever, the world cheerleading championships now include a Special Olympics division. The JOY Supernovas have been selected to represent the United States.

The JOY Supernovas competed in the World Cheerleading Championships in Orlando this past weekend and won the gold medal. The Montgomery County-based team is the first Special Olympics cheerleading team to represent the United States in the competition.
