Former Swim Coach Sentenced to Ten Years in Jail for Child Abuse

UPDATED, SEPT. 11, 7 p.m.- Former swim coach Christopher Huott was sentenced Thursday to 15 years in jail, with five years suspended  for sexually abusing a girl he used to coach and babysit, according to Montgomery County State’s Attorney Spokesman Ramon Korionoff.

His sentence is to be followed by three years of probation and an order not have contact with children in the future, Korionoff wrote in an email to MyMCMedia.

Christopher Thomas Huott, the founder and owner of the Maryland Suburban Swim Club in Laurel, is being sentenced this morning in a felony child abuse case.

Huott of the 8100 block of Westside Boulevard in Fulton was arrested on April 24 and pleaded guilty to one count of felony child abuse in July.

According to a police account, in March of this year, detectives were contacted by a female victim who disclosed that Huott had engaged her in sex acts on numerous occasions while she was a minor in his care. Huott was the victim’s swim coach when these incidents occurred, according to police.
