Spay it Forward Campaign (VIDEO)
Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett was joined by several other county officials this week to commend the Montgomery County Partners for Animal Wellbeing (MCPAW) organization for creating and coordinating a new spay/neuter and identification microchip program for Montgomery County dog and cat owners.
MCPAW’s Spay It Forward campaign is designed to deliver free spay/neuter and free microchipping service to cats and dogs owned by residents of Montgomery County without regard to income level. Officials say the Spay it Forward (SIF) campaign has the potential to greatly reduce the number of animals entering the Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center, reduce the euthanasia rates at the shelter, and increase the number of pets being returned to owners when lost.
A news conference was held on Dec. 8 in Rockville to formally kick off the Spay it Forward campaign, which is in need of funding from the community. Watch the news conference below:
MCPAW’s goal is to raise over one million dollars in the next 18 months for this campaign. For more information about the program: www.MCPAW.org./SpayItForward.
