Snow Emergency Lifted in Gaithersburg
The City of Gaithersburg snow emergency is lifted as of 7 a.m. on Friday, February 14. The emergency has been in effect since 8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 12, allowing snow removal crews maximum access to clear the city’s more than 80 miles of streets.
Snow removal crews continue to work to improve intersections and sight line visibility and to maximize lane clearance to the extent possible in all communities. Residents are asked to cooperate by shoveling sidewalks and clearing fire hydrants so that they are visible from the street. Sidewalk clearing is important to prevent pedestrian traffic in busy streets and at bus stops, especially as children head back to school next week.
Attempts will be made to pick-up recycling as scheduled on Friday, February 14, but due to accessibility issues, residents should consider holding their recyclables until next week. Recycling pick-up for those whose regular day was Thursday will take place on Saturday, February 15. Those with alleys should place their bins/carts next to the public street.
Residents are reminded that the City is closed on Monday, February 17 in celebration of Presidents Day. Please check the City’s website atwww.gaithersburgmd.gov for program status and updates.
