UPDATED: Metro’s Red Line Cleared of Reported Smoke

UPDATED, April 3, 7:30 a.m. – Montgomery County Fire and Rescue officials say they cleared both the Glenmont and Wheaton stations to return to service.

According to MCFRS Spokesman Pete Piringer, a ‘standpipe valve’ in the tunnel resulted in water coming in contact with an insulator causing a light haze in the tunnel between the two stations.

WMATA said it expects to open both stations shortly.
