Treasury Secretary Lew Tours M. Luis Construction in MoCo (Video)

As part of National Small Business Week, Treasury Secretary Jacob J. Lew and Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett toured M. Luis Construction’s asphalt manufacturing plant in Rockville on June 17 to recognize the critical contributions of small business owners and entrepreneurs to the nation’s economy.

M. Luis Construction is a minority- and women-owned road construction company that utilized a $2.5 million Maryland Industrial Development Financing Authority loan guarantee made possible by the State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) to expand operations and hire additional workers.

SSBCI is a Treasury-administered program designed to strengthen state programs that support lending to small businesses and small manufacturers. Nationwide, it is expected to generate up to $15 billion in new lending to small businesses like M. Luis Construction by 2017.
