Six of Nine Montgomery County COVID-19 Targets Met Friday

Montgomery County established a number of public health criteria with associated goals to guide the reopening of businesses and services amidst the pandemic. The information is updated daily on the County’s COVID-19 Data Dashboard. The criteria are grouped into three categories including the number of cases and deaths, hospital capacity to handle current and potential surge cases, and testing capacity.

Friday marks the 35th day of the second phase of reopening businesses and services in the county. There have been 16,768 confirmed cases of COVID-19 resulting in 744 deaths, based on numbers released by the Maryland Department of Health.

Six of the nine criteria showed improvement or adequate capacity Friday based on a three-day average, while only three criteria did not. The three criteria include the three-day average of both new cases and deaths and the three-day average of hospital acute care bed utilization rate. See the summary for the last two days below:

They are the number of new cases, the number of deaths, and the hospital acute care bed utilization rate. They appear in red below.  Six benchmarks were met on Friday. They are the number of hospitalizations, emergency room visits, intensive care hospitalizations, intensive care bed utilization rate, percentage of ventilators in use, and the test positivity rate.
