Police Investigation Leads to Arrests (Photos)

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police – Firearms Investigations Unit (FIU) have arrested six suspects from Gaithersburg and Germantown on firearms and drug-related charges.

According to police, in July 2013, FIU detectives received information from the 1st District Investigative Section regarding photos of firearms and drugs posted on an individual’s social media pages.  Based on this information, FIU detectives and the Quince Orchard School Resource Officer (SRO) launched an investigation into this suspect and several additional suspects.

On Oct. 11, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Special Investigations Division (SID) detectives and the Quince Orchard SRO conducted a traffic stop in the area of Darnestown Road and Muddy Branch Road on a vehicle which was occupied by several of the suspects under investigation.  Police said information developed from this traffic stop indicated that another suspect was currently in possession of firearms and marijuana.

A search warrant was issued and executed at a residence in the 12300 block of Triple Crown Road in North Potomac by the SWAT team, 6D-DCAT, and SID detectives.  According to police, the SWAT team entered the residence to find a suspect, later identified as Darel Gettier, armed with two handguns.  Located inside of the residence were 45 firearms, a large quantity of marijuana, and 7 subjects smoking marijuana.

As part of the on-going investigation, information was developed that led to a second search warrant being executed at a residence in the 18400 block of Cottage Garden Drive in Germantown.  A large quantity of marijuana was also located in this residence.

The following six suspects were arrested and charged.  All have been released on bond. Police released the following information about the arrests:

  • Ethan K Gettier, age 16 of Triple Crown Court. Charged as on adult with:
    • possession of a firearm by a minor
    • possession of marijuana
    • possession of drug paraphernalia
    • possession with intent to distribute Controlled Dangerous Substances (CDS)
    • possession of a firearm in a drug trafficking crime
  • Darel J Gettier, age 63 of Triple Crown Court was charged with:
    • allowing a minor access to a handgun
    • keeping a disorderly house
    • maintaining a common nuisance to administer CDS
  • Anand M. Javeri, age 18, of Cottage Garden Drive, Germantown, who was in the vehicle, was charged with:
    • CDS distribution
    • possession with intent to distribute CDS
  • Khaliq R. Thomas, age 18, of Cottage Garden Drive, who was in the vehicle, was charged with:
    • CDS distribution
    • possession with intent to distribute CDS

Two additional suspects were charged with possession of marijuana via criminal citation:

  • Devon Rubenstein, age 18, of Cottage Garden Drive, Germantown, who was in the vehicle.
  • Connor Fellows, age 20, of Hart Mews,Gaithersburg, who was stopped in a vehicle leaving Triple Crown Road address.
