‘Sing the Truth’ Jazz at Strathmore
Angelique Kidjo, Dianne Reeves and Lizz Wright appear in concert on January 22 at Strathmore Music Center. The performance starts at 8 p.m.
Great singers of today, celebrating great singers of the past, with passion, artistry, and soul: this is Sing the Truth. Angelique Kidjo, Dianne Reeves and Lizz Wright celebrate the legacies of recently departed legends Miriam Makeba, Abbey Lincoln, and Odetta, and perform songs by other great women of music, ranging from Billie Holiday to Lauryn Hill, along with selections of their own original songs.
This starry evening’s lineup includes Geri Allen, Terri Lyne Carrington, James Genus, Romero Lubambo and percussionist Munyungo Jackson.
This concert will run approximately 120 minutes with no intermission.
Join a pre-concert lecture, Legendary Black Women in the Music Industry: Then and Now, by Howard University’s Dr. Tony Randolph, at 6:30 p.m. in the Mansion’s Shapiro Music Room. Seating is limited on a first come/first served basis. Free with your concert ticket.
