Silver Spring Transit Center Update (Photos)

The Montgomery County Council received an update on the Silver Spring Transit Center at its June 18 meeting.

General Services Director David Dise updated the Council on the status of testing and remediation at the facility. He said work is progressing and “colloboration is alive and well.” You can peruse the latest memos on the Transit Center here: Agenda Item #5, June 18,2013 Status Report

Also at the meeting: Rodrigo Bitar, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority’s (WMATA) assistant general manager for transit infrastructure and engineering services.

Bitar read a statement and then answered questions from the county’s elected leaders about WMATA’s position on accepting and maintaining the transit center. Bitar said WMATA is waiting for more test results as it has concerns about “an extraordinary amount of maintenance effort to sustain it and reach a service life of its intended 50 years.”
