Silver Spring Student Named Finalist in Google Doodle Competition
One local elementary school student is on her way to becoming “Google famous” after her creativity gained her national attention from the major search-engine.
Shahsi Arnold, a fifth-grader at East Silver Spring Elementary school was named a State finalist in the Doodle 4 Google competition.
Her drawing titled “Imagination Transportation” is one of 10 State winners in grades 4-5 in the U.S., and was entered in response to this year’s Google Doodle theme: “If I could invent one thing to make the world a better place…”
After an online public voting period, which ends on May 9, one young artist will see his or her artwork on the Google homepage and receive a $30,000 college scholarship and a $50,000 Google for Education technology grant for his or her school.
