During a routine inspection of the garage at 8700 Cameron Street, Silver Spring, staff noticed signs of potential structural weakness with a few of the structural support beams. The Montgomery County Department of Transportation’s Division of Parking Management determined certain areas within the garage need to be closed for a more in-depth evaluation. Due to an abundance of caution, the area has been closed to public use.

The Spring Street entry–exit driveway is closed.

Garage users are asked to use the Cameron Street entrance and exit until further notice

Accessible (ADA) spaces on the ground level closest to Planning Place will be available for use but will not be accessible from Spring Street. The first ramp up from Planning Place, the current Parking Convenience Sticker, area will still be available.

Approximately 50 to 75 spaces parking spaces are affected by this work. There will still be 1,275 to 1,300 spaces still available in the garage. Additional parking is available on the upper levels of the Cameron Street side of Garage 2.

Vehicles parked in closed spaces will be towed for the sake of public safety. If your car is towed, please call 301-279-8000 to recover your vehicle. Vehicles towed from restricted areas will be subject to fines and will be towed at the owner’s expense.
