Silver Spring Advisory Board Committees to Meet

Pedestrian safety, economic development and transportation are included on the topics of discussion for the committees of the Silver Spring Citizens Advisory Board which meet on Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. in the Silver Spring Civic Building. 20140113 SS Advisory Board Meeting

The committee meetings are open to the public and deal with topical issues of interest to the Silver Spring Regional Area communities and neighborhoods.

These discussions are then presented during the Silver Spring Citizens Advisory Board meetings which take place on the second Monday of every month. The next board meeting will take place on March 10 at 7 p.m.

Below is a look at the agendas for the upcoming committee meetings:

  • Commercial Economic Development Committee: This is the committee responsible for the Taste the World in Fenton Village – scheduled for Sunday May 4th. At their meeting on Feb. 24 they will be putting the finishing touches on the details on the event planning. Volunteers are still needed.
  • Neighborhoods Committee: This committee is being rejuvenated with a new sense of purpose. They are asking Silver Spring Regional Area civics and condo association to come share their common issues so the SSCAB can be better informed and thus provide more effective advice to the County Executive and County Council.
  • Transportation, Energy and Environment Committee: Pedestrian safety, efficient traffic flow, sustainability are but some of the issues the committee is tackling. On Feb. 24 they will engage County engineers regarding the signalization of lights on key streets and intersections. They will also begin planning for next month’s meeting which will address the issue of area open space, particularly in downtown.
