Sierra Club Endorses Brown for Governor

The Sierra Club endorsed Anthony Brown in his campaign for Governor today (Aug. 6). The organization backed Brown due to his strong record of leadership in protecting Maryland’s air and water, expanding wind and solar power, and working to clean up the Chesapeake Bay, in addition to his commitment to environmental justice and policy plans to ensure the environment remains a priority in Maryland’s next administration.

Anthony Brown and Ken Ulman will bring a wealth of experience and personal dedication to this important issue. In the last eight years, he has helped advance policies to clean up the Chesapeake Bay and bring clean energy jobs to Maryland by expanding the use of wind and solar power,” said Betsy Johnson, Political Chair for the Sierra Club’s Maryland Chapter.

I thank the Sierra Club for their support and will work together with all parties as Governor to advance the cause of environmental justice for all Marylanders. Maryland has a real choice this election, and the Brown-Ulman administration will be committed to doing our part to address climate change, strengthen our air and water quality, and clean up the Chesapeake Bay. Together, we’ll build on the progress we’ve made to ensure future generations of Marylanders enjoy a clean and healthy environment,” said Lt. Governor Anthony G. Brown.

From now through Election Day, the Sierra Club will mobilize its membership to work on behalf of Brown throughout Maryland. The Sierra Club has more than 14,000 members in Maryland.
