Sherwood Defeats Crosstown Olney Rival Magruder, 71-59

Friday December 15, 2017 Sherwood High School Sandy Springs, Maryland.

Early season basketball games between rivals brings a different competitive aspect when community bragging rights are on the line.  Friday night presented Sherwood an opportunity to show who is best in Olney when they faced Magruder on their home court.

Sherwood launched several three point shots and built what turned out to be an insurmountable lead outscoring Magruder 25-5 as the quarter ended.  Magruder responded in the second quarter outscoring Sherwood 22-11.  Three minutes and nineteen seconds remained in the game and the Colonels of Magruder had closed the lead to 59-51, it was not enough.  Sherwood bounced back and won 71-59 to claim early season bragging rights in Olney.

There is a lot of basketball to be played this year and both teams certainly have the capability of competing with any school in the county.
